Getting ready to leave WV

As snow threatens West Virginia one more time this winter, some WV Presbyterians are packing T-shirts and maybe even shorts as they get ready for a week in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Of course it is not just the promise of sunshine and warm breezes that beckons.  Long hours of hard physical labor will be the norm most days.  We will be Rebuilding Hope In New Orleans, working with RHINO, a ministry of St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church.  RHINO coordinates the work of volunteers who come to NOLA on week long mission trips.
We will be working on a Habitat for Humanity house.  Right now it looks like we will be doing foundation and flooring work.  Some of our group are proficient with all kinds of tools, others have to be shown how to hold a hammer, but somehow jobs are found for all and everyone will make a meaningful contribution to the week's labor.
We will, of course, have a chance to enjoy the city.  The people of St. Charles Ave. church will host us for 3 evening meals and take us on tours of the city.  And I am sure that members of the group will scout out some authentic New Orleans cuisine and entertainment for us to enjoy in the evenings.
So come on along.  Pray for traveling mercies on all of us Sunday and Monday.  We will be settling in on Monday night and the work begins at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
